Common Questions
Everything you need to know about our bluebell walks, forest trails, and Lough Derg retreats
Late April through May is peak bluebell season at Portumna Forest Park—that's when the woodland floor really comes alive with colour. We typically run our guided walks during this window, though you can visit anytime between April and early June if you'd like to explore at your own pace.
Our oak trail at Portumna is about 3.5 kilometres with gentle elevation. We pace our guided walks for comfort—that means we're stopping to look at things, not rushing. Most groups take 2 to 2.5 hours, and there are benches along the way if you need a proper rest. You set the tempo, we just follow along.
Yes, our Lough Derg shore rest retreats are typically 3-day programmes with overnight accommodation included. You'll have guided shoreside walks in the morning, free time for relaxation, and evening meditation sessions. It's designed so you can actually unwind without rushing between activities.
These walks are designed with active seniors in mind, not athletes. The pace is gentle, distances are manageable, and we build in rest stops. If you can walk for 30 minutes without discomfort, you'll do fine. Let us know about any concerns when you book, and we'll make sure it's right for you.
Layers are your friend—Galway weather changes quickly. Waterproof jacket, comfortable walking shoes with good grip, and a hat are essentials. Bring water, a light snack, and sunscreen. We'll send you a full packing list when you book, tailored to the season.
Get in touch via our contact page and we'll discuss your interests, dates, and group size. Pricing varies depending on whether you're joining a scheduled walk or booking a private retreat experience. We're happy to work with you to find something that fits your budget and schedule.
